When you need it
Nursing bras are useful from the end of pregnancy through the months you breastfeed or pump, typically from birth to around 12 months or longer. Many parents buy one or two late in pregnancy and add more once their size settles after milk comes in.
What to look for
Look for soft, stretchy fabric that adapts as your breast size changes through the day. Clips that open with one hand or crossover cups that pull aside make feeding easier. Wire-free styles are often more comfortable in the early weeks. Check the band for several hook settings and pick fabrics that hold up to frequent washing.
