Stroller Accessories & Essentials
Strollers, carriers and the add-ons that make walks easier
This category covers how your baby gets around when you're on foot: the stroller itself, a carrier for days when wheels are a hassle, and the small accessories that clip on afterward. Most families lean on one main stroller or travel system and one comfortable carrier, then add weather gear like a rain cover or mosquito net once they know which seasons they'll be out in.
Accessories are where it's easy to overbuy. A cup holder, a couple of stroller hooks and an organizer earn their place quickly, while toy bars, steering wheels and rockers are extras you can skip. As your child grows, a lighter cabin stroller or a hip seat carrier often replaces the bulky newborn setup, especially for travel and quick errands with a toddler who wants in and out every few minutes.

Questions parents ask
- Do I need both a stroller and a baby carrier?
- Many families use both. A carrier keeps a newborn close and works on stairs, trails and crowded sidewalks, while a stroller saves your back on long walks and holds the bags. If you only want one at first, start with whichever fits how you get around most days.
- What is a travel system?
- A travel system is a stroller paired with an infant car seat that clicks onto it, so you can move a sleeping baby from the car to the stroller without unbuckling. It's handy in the early months. Once your baby outgrows the infant seat, you keep using the stroller on its own.
- When can my baby ride in the regular stroller seat?
- Most strollers require good head and neck control before a baby rides upright in the main seat, often somewhere around 6 months. Check your stroller's manual for its limits. Until then, use a bassinet attachment, a fully reclined mode or a car seat adapter.
- Which stroller accessories are actually worth it?
- A rain cover, a mosquito net in buggy seasons, stroller hooks and an organizer or cup holder get used almost daily. A footmuff is worth it if you walk through cold winters. Toy bars and electric rockers are optional, so it's fine to wait and see if you miss them.
