When you need it

Hooded towels are useful from birth, when babies lose heat quickly after a bath. They stay handy through about 36 months, until your child is big enough for a regular towel or prefers a kid-sized robe.

What to look for

Look for soft, absorbent cotton or bamboo terry that feels gentle against delicate skin and does not shed lint. A generous size (roughly 30 inches square or larger) wraps around your baby fully and still fits as they grow. The hood should be deep enough to cover the whole head. Choose towels that hold up to frequent washing and dry quickly.
